Connecting Dental Research to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

At Al‑Rafidain Dental Journal (RDENTJ), we recognize that oral health is deeply interconnected with global development challenges, from health equity and environmental sustainability to responsible innovation. Aligning our research with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) not only enhances the societal relevance of our work but also supports Iraq’s national vision for sustainable development.

Through this page, we highlight the key SDGs most relevant to dentistry and outline how researchers, clinicians, and educators can contribute through their work. Together, we can foster a more inclusive, healthier, and sustainable future.

By highlighting the positive impact of a healthy workforce, articles can connect oral health to economic development.

Highlighting strategies for reducing dental waste, including the use of reusable materials, proper disposal methods, and exploring biodegradable options.

Promoting the use of biocompatible, eco-friendly materials in dental procedures.

Balancing infection control protocols with sustainable practices, such as using reusable sterilization equipment when appropriate.
